PixelPoint POS Integration for QuickBooks and More

Each PixelPoint store closes its own End of Day. Autymate posts that day to QuickBooks, Xero, Sage Intacct or NetSuite, with every line apart.

Does PixelPoint Integrate With QuickBooks?

Yes, you can integrate PixelPoint with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Sage Intacct and NetSuite using Autymate. PixelPoint is the restaurant point of sale PAR Technology bought in 2005, and each store closes its business day at End of Day. Autymate builds the connection around what your stores can provide, then posts each closed day with Summary Groups, each tax, Methods of Payment, tips and Pay Outs on their own lines.

Connects to

PAR also documents a QuickBooks route of its own. Its guide, last revised in May 2014, describes PixelAFI: map Summary Groups, taxes and Methods of Payment to QuickBooks accounts, select a date, export, then import an IIF file. It names QuickBooks Pro 2013, and QuickBooks Online is not mentioned in the guide. Whether it ships with current versions is a question for your dealer.

Whichever route you use, the questions stay the same: which report the books tie to, where tax and tips sit, and what happens when a day is corrected. PAR's HQ report descriptions, dated 2023, answer the first of those precisely, and this page uses their terms.

PixelPoint Report Lines and Where Each One Belongs

PAR's HQ reports split a store's day across three views: sales by Summary Group, tax and totals on the Sales Summary, and tenders on the Payment and Tender Balance reports. A store without HQ ties to whichever of its own reports carries the same lines, agreed at Map. Here is where each line usually lands, and what a wrong placement does to the numbers you read.

One PixelPoint day splits into 5 groups: What the store earned, Owed to government and staff, Owed to guests, How the money arrived, Paid out, or left out.

PAR's guide, last revised in May 2014, asks the establishment to adjust for a duplicate, and the $934.20 waits in a temporary account against $467.10 of tax owed. Autymate's duplicate check stops a day that has already posted from adding to the books twice, and a corrected day can be set up to post again once you decide. PAR's limit on Sales Tax Payable concerns imported journal data. How tax and receivables post in your edition of QuickBooks is agreed at Map, and your accountant approves it.

Harbord's $6,902.00 stays in card clearing until each processor funds its batch, and the $1,162.10 stays undeposited until someone takes it to the bank. Have one store's Sales Summary and Payment Report? See how your PixelPoint days would post.

Sample figures. Rows above the deposit read as credits, with minus for debits. At Harbord, Coupon Value is the whole gap between Gross Sales of $6,937.00 and Net Sales, and Net Total equals Net Sales. Harbord's Over/Short is shown as a $4.00 shortage on cash, with its Pay Out counted separately; how your stores' Calc Tendered treats a Pay Out is confirmed at Map. Harbord applies no Tip Surcharge, so Charge Tip equals Tip, and it pays Charge Tip through payroll, so none left the drawer. PixelPoint's Sales Summary prints Total Tax; how the split by tax reaches the books is confirmed at Connect. Card fees are left out because they arrive on each processor's terms. The second panel shows discounts net for simplicity and leaves tips out, because the guide's mapping screen lists Summary Groups, taxes and Methods of Payment.

When PAR's PixelAFI Guide Can Be Enough for a PixelPoint Store

PAR's 2014 guide sets out a route we'd call workable for one store. Someone maps accounts once, then selects each date, exports and imports the file. It also says imported journal data can't reach Sales Tax Payable or Accounts Receivable without a customer, so it adds temporary accounts and a manual entry by your accountant. Changing accounts in QuickBooks means redoing the export setup and the mapping, re-exporting one file type also deletes the other's data, and the guide says the interface does not handle 24-hour mode operation.

When PixelAFI can be enough

  • One store on one QuickBooks Desktop company file
  • Someone who picks each date, exports and imports the file
  • An accountant who moves tax out of the temporary account by journal entry
  • A dealer who confirms your version still includes PixelAFI

When Autymate fits better

  • Several stores, each needing its own books
  • QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage Intacct or NetSuite
  • Days corrected after import, where a duplicate check matters
  • Autymate's team watching each run

The limits above come from PAR's own guide; which side a group falls on is our reading. QuickBooks Online is not mentioned in it, which is not the same as unsupported. If your dealer has a newer edition, we would like to read it.

Where PixelPoint Data Can Go

A PixelPoint group's stores may sit in more than one company, and those companies don't always share an accounting system. One approved mapping covers every Summary Group, and each store's closed day lands in the books that store belongs to.

QuickBooks Online
Each PixelPoint store's day as one entry, with Summary Groups on your income accounts and the store as a location or class. QuickBooks Online integrations
QuickBooks Desktop
For company files that stayed on Desktop. Each store's day posts on the schedule you choose, in place of selecting a date and importing a Journal.iif file. QuickBooks Desktop integrations
Xero
A PixelPoint store as a Location tracking option, with VAT or sales tax mapped from however its Taxes tab is set. Accounting integrations
Sage Intacct
A store as a location inside the entity that owns it, with Charge Tip and each TAX line on its own account. ERP integrations
NetSuite
Stores under the subsidiary that owns them, with card Methods of Payment held in clearing until each processor funds its batch. ERP integrations

How PixelPoint Connects

PixelPoint keeps each store's day on the store's own system, and some groups also send it to PixelPoint HQ. Which of these suits each store depends on its version and licences, so it is agreed with you, and with your dealer where a licence or setting has to change.

One closed day, step by step

Replaces:Hunting for it in the bank feed

  • PixelPoint HQ, where licensed

    HQ reports

HQ groups its reports by store and business date, from data each store's connector uploads. A store needs the HQ licence and connector for this to apply.

  • A file written at End of Day

    Store file

PixelPoint's End of Day can run other programs: MarginEdge documents adding its export program to the store's EOD batch file. Whether a similar file suits your stores is worked out at Connect, with your dealer where a setting has to change.

  • A route agreed with your dealer

    Dealer

PixelPoint is sold through dealers, and a licence or setting change often goes through them. Where neither of the above fits a store, the route is worked out with them for your account.

For your IT or accounting team: the technical detail

No writing to the PixelPoint database
PAR's Database Utilities guide (August 2023) says third-party software writing to it is against the EULA, and warns that such applications will stop working. Autymate's route for your stores is agreed at Connect with that in mind.
Database format
The same guide says PixelSQLBase.db has Sybase 10 properties, and that third-party applications most likely stop working if it is converted to Sybase 16. Tell us if a store has been converted.
Versions differ
Deliverect's order interface asks for version 20.4.29 or higher, and Tyro's for Version 20. Each store's version is recorded at Connect.
End of Day and cash-outs
PAR's PixelAFI guide notes that with AutoEODForce=Y, staff must cash out before the automatic End of Day, or discrepancy errors block PixelAFI's export. Tell us if a store runs in 24-hour mode, so its business day is agreed at Map.
Tax-inclusive stores
The Taxes tab can run in a VAT Environment or price a product including tax. Avero notes this can make its figures differ from PixelPoint's, so the mapping is checked against each store's own setting. Each tax can also carry a numeric Accounting Code, which PAR says can be used with accounting software packages.
History
PAR's HQ guide (February 2024) lets a store mark a date range for upload, so past days can reach HQ when a store connects.

Running PixelPoint Across Several Stores

PAR's HQ reports can show several stores at once, but each store still closes its own day and holds its own settings. A group needs those stores to read alike in the books, whatever differs between them on site.

  • One Mapping for Every Store's Summary Groups.

Your accountant approves one template. A store that named a group "Liquor" where the others say "Bar" reaches the same account through an approved location-level adjustment.
  • Each Store's Taxes as It Set Them.

PixelPoint allows five taxes per store, each with its own rate, and a tax can be a percentage or a fixed amount. TAX2 at one store need not be TAX2 at the next, so each is mapped per store.
  • Stores in Separate Companies.

Each store lands in its own company, or its own location or class in one company, and a store bought by a new company can be set up to post to those books on the approved mapping, with any location-level adjustment.
  • Different Versions and Licences.

One store may run Version 20 with an HQ licence and another an older build without one. Tell us at Connect, because each store's route follows what it has.
  • A Store That Sends Nothing.

A store that traded but sent no day is flagged, and that day posts when its data arrives.

How PixelPoint Setup Works

Most of the work is settling which report each line ties to and which account it belongs on. After that, each store's closed day posts on its own schedule.

  1. Connect

We record each store's version and licences, agree what each one can provide with you and your dealer, and connect its accounting system.

  2. Map

Your bookkeeper and our team place every Summary Group, tax, Method of Payment, Pay Out reason and tip line, including whether Charge Tip leaves the drawer or goes through payroll, store by store.

  3. Validate

One closed day from one store is posted and tied to that day's Sales Summary, Payment Report and Tender Balance Report, or the store's own reports without HQ.

  4. Automate

Once a store's End of Day has closed, its day posts on the schedule you choose, as a summary entry.

  5. Monitor

Autymate's team watches each run. A new Summary Group with no account is held for your decision with the reason and what to check, a day that has already posted is caught by the duplicate check, and support is on hand.

Decide this before anything is built

Gross Sales with Coupon Value apart, or Net Sales; one entry per store or one per Summary Group; how a Tip Surcharge is treated; and whether a corrected day replaces the original or posts as an adjustment. These four choices shape every posted day, so settle them with your accountant first.

What we need from you

  • Each store's PixelPoint version, and whether it has an HQ licence
  • A manager who can run one store's reports for a closed day
  • Your PixelPoint dealer's contact, if a licence or setting needs changing
  • Access to QuickBooks, Xero, Sage Intacct or NetSuite
  • Someone to review the first week's postings

What a PixelPoint Integration Looks Like in Autymate

Every store's closed day becomes one run. You see what posted and what waits.

Autymate turns each store's closed PixelPoint day into one run. Your team sees every store in one list: what posted, what is held and why, and any store that sent nothing, which is flagged and posts once its data arrives. Held items wait for your decision while the rest of the day posts. Every run keeps its mapping version and a log of each step, and Autymate's team monitors the runs.

PixelPoint Integration FAQs

Yes, you can integrate PixelPoint with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop using Autymate. PixelPoint is the restaurant point of sale PAR Technology bought in 2005. Autymate builds the connection around what your stores can provide and posts each closed End of Day with Summary Groups, taxes, Methods of Payment, tips and Pay Outs on their own lines. Xero, Sage Intacct and NetSuite work the same way.

Sources and Method

Facts about PixelPoint on this page come from PAR's own product documentation and SEC filing, and from the help of MarginEdge, Restaurant365, Deliverect, Tyro and Avero, checked on November 1, 2026. Settings differ by store and version, and PAR's accounting guide is dated, so confirm details for your stores during setup. The worked example uses sample figures.
