Does Oracle MICROS Simphony Integrate With QuickBooks?
Yes, you can integrate Oracle MICROS Simphony with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Sage Intacct and NetSuite using Autymate. Oracle's own connector serves NetSuite, and we found no Oracle connector for QuickBooks, Xero or Sage (checked November 2026). Autymate builds the connection around how each location provides its closed day, then posts sales, service charges, tax, tips, gift cards and tenders on separate lines.
Connects to
- QuickBooks Online
- Sage Intacct
- NetSuite
- QuickBooks Desktop
- Xero
- and 300+ more systems
Simphony's reports show how a location did. The books need each dollar's account, and Oracle's own definitions show the gap. Total Revenue contains tax. One Service Charges line can hold three different kinds of charge. Gift cards and banquet deposits sit in Non-Revenue, outside sales, yet in the deposit.
Three settings decide how a day posts: how your service charges are configured, how tips are paid out, and whether your locations run Cash Management. The rest of this page takes each one.
Simphony Daily Operations Lines and Where Each One Belongs
Oracle's Daily Operations report puts a location's sales, service charges, tax, tips and cash on one page, and its Reports Reference defines each line. These are the ones a closing bookkeeper has to place. Several read like income and aren't, so a wrong placement tends to surface only when the bank disagrees or a payroll question arrives.

| In Simphony's reports | Where it belongs | What it costs you when it is wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Sales and the check total | ||
| Net Sales | Income, by revenue center or menu group | Net Sales excludes add-on tax, while inclusive-tax setups read as Gross Sales after Discount with tax inside, so a rule built for one location can misread another |
| Total Discounts | A discount account, read apart from sales | Item and subtotal discounts combine here, and the tax treatment differs between US, VAT and GST setups |
| Total Revenue | Not posted; a check figure only | It is Net Sales, Service Charges and taxes added together, so posting it as sales books tax as income |
| To split or owed | ||
| Service Charges | Split by type: income, wages through payroll, or a charged tip | Financial reports add all three types, while tip reports show only those paid to staff, so one line can't be mapped whole |
| Tax Collected | A payable account for each tax | Tax Collected is one summary across tax types, and Oracle warns Taxable Sales must not be summed across rates, since an item can carry several |
| Charge Tips | Tips payable, until paid | Charged Receipts counts only tenders carrying a charged tip and leaves the tip out, so it can't stand in for what the processor funds |
| Tips Paid | Tips payable, reduced | Oracle records it as a Pickup tender and a subtype of paid out, so a rule expensing paid-outs books money owed to servers as a cost |
| Held for later | ||
| Non-Revenue Service Charges | A liability for each: gift cards, banquet deposits | Left out of Total Revenue but present in the money, so the deposit reads as over by the whole amount |
| Tenders, cash and open checks | ||
| Tenders | Card clearing for each, undeposited cash | Sent straight to the bank, a card day shows before the processor funds it, so the bank line won't match that day |
| Checks Carried Over | Nothing posted until closed | Oracle stores this at end of day and doesn't revise it when those checks close, so it can't stand in for what's still open |
| Deposits and Over/Short | Undeposited cash, and cash over and short | Both come from Cash Management, so a location without it has no count to post |
One Simphony Saturday, Daily Operations to Deposit
Foundry Square's Saturday, on Oracle's Daily Operations for table service with add-on tax: Net Sales of $10,600.00 after discounts, then a private-room fee, an auto gratuity on parties, and tax, which Oracle totals as Total Revenue. A gift card and a banquet deposit come in on top. Servers keep their card tips from the cash they turn in. Here is that day as one entry, and how Oracle's totals reach what was taken.
Daily Operations to journal entry
| From Simphony | Posts to | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Gross Sales | Sales: Food and Bar | $10,900.00 |
| Discounts | Discounts | −$300.00 |
| Private-room fee | Service charge income | $150.00 |
| Auto gratuity | Service charges payable to staff | $360.00 |
| Tax at 8% | Sales tax payable | $888.80 |
| Gift card sold | Gift card liability | $250.00 |
| Banquet deposit | Customer deposits | $500.00 |
| Charge Tips | Tips payable | $1,420.00 |
| Tips Paid | Tips payable | −$1,420.00 |
| Cash short | Cash over and short | −$6.50 |
| Deposit total | Card clearing and undeposited cash | $12,742.30 |
Ties out$12,382.80 card clearing + $359.50 counted = $12,742.30 | ||
Oracle's totals to what was taken
| In Simphony's reports | What it is | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Net Sales | Sales after discounts | $10,600.00 |
| Service Charges | Both the fee and the gratuity | $510.00 |
| Tax Collected | Owed to the state | $888.80 |
| = Total Revenue | Tax and staff money included | $11,998.80 |
| Non-Revenue Service Charges | Gift card and deposit | $750.00 |
| = Total Collections | Still without tips | $12,748.80 |
| Charge Tips | On the card slips | $1,420.00 |
| = Taken on cards and in cash | Our sum; compare your tender totals | $14,168.80 |
Ties on this setup$12,382.80 cards + $1,786.00 cash = $14,168.80 | ||
Post Total Revenue as sales and income reads $1,248.80 too high: $888.80 of it is tax the location owes and, on this mapping, $360.00 is the gratuity owed to staff. Non-Revenue runs the other way. The $750.00 never reaches Total Revenue, yet it is in the deposit, so a bookkeeper tying sales to the bank chases a gap that is really a gift card and a banquet deposit.
The $510.00 Service Charges line is the one to split: the house's $150.00 fee and the $360.00 gratuity read as one number here and differently on the tip report. The gratuity stays in the deposit and reaches staff through payroll, so its payable stays open. The $1,420.00 of Charge Tips clears the same day, because Tips Paid is set up here for self-banking. Paying tips from the cash settles the money; those tips still go through payroll reporting.
Cash of $1,786.00 less $1,420.00 of Tips Paid gives a Cash Due of $366.00, against $359.50 counted, and that $6.50 is what Over/Short prints. Have a Daily Operations report to hand? See how your days would post.
Sample figures. Tips are direct charged tips on the tender; a service charge set up as a charged tip already sits in Service Charges, so adding Charge Tips would count it twice. Both Non-Revenue items are rung as non-revenue service charges; as a non-revenue menu item, a gift card can read outside Total Collections. One 8% add-on rate covers sales and both service charges; whether yours are taxed depends on your state and setup. No carried-over or reopened checks, redemptions or applied deposits. Oracle doesn't state whether a card tender includes its charged tip; we read it that way here, so confirm against your tender totals at Validate. Card fees are left out, since they follow each processor's terms. Under VAT, Oracle's formula uses Sales Net VAT in place of Net Sales.
Simphony, Essentials or RES 3700: What Changes for the Books
MICROS is the name many buyers still use, and Simphony is the product Oracle sells today. What you run decides how a day can reach your books, and for RES 3700 there is a date to plan around, set out below.
| What you run | What Oracle says | For the books |
|---|---|---|
| Simphony | Its Business Intelligence API requires Simphony 19.2+ and Reporting and Analytics 20.1+, and serves data in the cloud | The API or a scheduled export can supply a day; on an on-premise Simphony, confirm the API with Oracle first |
| Simphony Essentials | An edition of Simphony Cloud Service for small and medium-sized restaurants | Which reports and routes your edition includes is settled at Connect |
| RES 3700 | RTA, Oracle's transfer agent, connects it to Reporting and Analytics and is removed on or after July 1, 2027. Reports and exports relying on that data stop receiving new data | Any process reading RES 3700 days from Reporting and Analytics needs a new source. Simphony customers aren't affected |
| 9700 or e7 | Each has its own documentation; we found no comparable dated notice | What each location provides depends on its release, so tell us which one it runs |
A group partway through a move may run both, so the product is recorded location by location. If your close depends on Reporting and Analytics and you run RES 3700, ask your Oracle representative about the July 2027 change first; what replaces that data is a question we settle together at Connect.
Where Simphony Data Can Go
Where your books live doesn't change what Simphony provides. One approved mapping covers every revenue center, service charge and tender, and each location's day lands in the accounting system its owner already keeps.
- QuickBooks Online
- A Simphony day as one journal entry, with each location as a location or class and service charges split by how each is set up. QuickBooks Online integrations
- Sage Intacct
- A restaurant as a location inside the entity that owns it, with revenue centers kept apart when your reporting reads them that way. ERP integrations
- NetSuite
- Locations under the subsidiary that owns them. Oracle has its own connector for NetSuite, so compare its scope with what your close needs. ERP integrations
- QuickBooks Desktop
- For groups whose company files stayed on Desktop, with Non-Revenue items on the same liability accounts an Online file would use. QuickBooks Desktop integrations
- Xero
- Locations as a tracking option, so Net Sales and Over/Short read location by location in Xero's reports. Accounting integrations
How Simphony Connects
Oracle documents two ways out of Simphony for this work, and sites with neither can still send a file. Which route suits each location depends on what you run and what Oracle has enabled for you, so it is settled at Connect.

A Business Intelligence API account
BI APIOracle's back-office API returns a location's daily totals and guest checks. Your Reporting and Analytics administrator creates an account scoped to your locations, with the Sales and Operations permission, and Cash Management if you use it.
A scheduled export from Reporting and Analytics
ExportAn export configuration writes a file and delivers it over SFTP or HTTPS on a schedule. Oracle's 20.1 guide says to schedule it at least two hours after the last location's Start of Day, and offers an end of day check every 15 minutes for 6 hours where the data isn't guaranteed by then.
A report from each location
Site fileA manager or bookkeeper downloads the day as a spreadsheet, and we read it. It suits a location with no API or export, at the cost of a person doing that step each day.
For your IT or accounting team: the technical detail
- One day, several calls
- getOperationsDailyTotals holds Net Sales, Service Charges and tax but no tip field. Tips sit in getEmployeeDailyTotals or on each guest check, tenders in getTenderMediaDailyTotals.
- Flags live elsewhere
- Service charge totals give an amount and a count. Whether one is revenue or a charged tip comes from getServiceChargeDimensions (revFlag, chrgTipsFlag).
- Missing means zero
- Many fields are left out of the response when the value is 0 or null, so an absent line isn't an error.
- Password and tokens
- Oracle's guide says the API account password expires after 60 days, the ID token lasts 14 days and the refresh token 28.
- Location lists
- An account scoped by location isn't updated when a location is added, so a new site has to be assigned.
- Oracle Payments
- getPaymentPayouts returns data only for customers on Oracle MICROS Payment Cloud Service, with fees withheld from version 20.2.
- GL export
- An older Oracle back-office guide documents a pipe-separated GL export file with service charge, tender and tax records. We haven't confirmed it on current releases, so it isn't a route we start from.
NetSuite Connector, Keying by Hand or Autymate for Simphony?
If your books are in NetSuite, look at Oracle's own connector first. Its March 2024 release describes a daily import for each location with tender names, carry-over amounts, dayparts, items sold, service charges and discounts, and doesn't describe tips, tax or deposits. Restaurant365 lists Micros 3700, Simphony and Simphony API integrations for its own accounting. For one location with a willing bookkeeper, keying the day by hand is a fair choice. For the other systems, here is how keying by hand compares with Autymate.

Talk to us about yoursRunning Simphony Across Several Locations
Reporting and Analytics reads across locations. The close happens one location at a time, split the way its accounts need, with that location's cash. Oracle's API has the same shape: each daily-totals call asks for one location and one business date.
Revenue Centers Inside One Location.
Oracle's revenue centers exist for sales reporting and accounting information, so a dining room, a bar and a patio can each carry their own totals. Decide once whether the books read them apart. Autymate posts them to one approved mapping, so ten locations with three revenue centers aren't thirty reads.Locations in Separate Companies.
Each location lands in its own QuickBooks company, or its own location or class in one company, on one mapping template. A location that set up a service charge differently gets an approved location-level adjustment.A New Location Joins the Group.
An API account assigned to named locations doesn't pick up a new one on its own, by Oracle's guide. Once a location is on your list with us, one that sent no day is flagged, and that day posts once its data arrives.Simphony and RES 3700 Side by Side.
A group mid-move can have one location on each, and RES 3700's route to Reporting and Analytics changes in 2027, so the source for each is recorded at Connect, and one chart of accounts still reads alike.
Send us what each location runs. More on restaurant integrations and franchise and multi-location integrations.
How Simphony Setup Works
Most of the work is settling which line ties to what and which account it belongs on. Once that's agreed, posting is routine.
Connect
We record what each location runs and what it can provide, agree the route with you and your Oracle contact where needed, and connect your accounting system.
Map
Your bookkeeper and our team give each revenue center, discount, tax and tender its account, and record how each service charge is set up and how tips are paid.
Validate
One closed day from one location is posted and tied to that day's Daily Operations report, down to Over/Short where Cash Management runs.
Automate
Each location's day posts on the schedule you choose, as a summary entry, once its data has arrived. It can be set up to recheck earlier days and hold any that changed after posting.
Monitor
Autymate's team watches each run. A new service charge with no account is held for your decision with the reason and what to check, a day that has already posted is caught by the duplicate check, and support is on hand.
Decide this before anything is built
How each service charge is treated, with auto gratuity first; how tips are paid out at each location; which locations run Cash Management; and one entry per location or per revenue center. Settle these four with your accountant first.
What we need from you
- What each location runs, and its version if you know it
- One Daily Operations report and one tip report from each kind of location
- Your list of service charges and how each is set to post
- Your Reporting and Analytics administrator or Oracle contact
- Access to QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite or Xero
What an Oracle MICROS Simphony Integration Looks Like in Autymate
Every location's closed day becomes one run. You see what posted and what waits.
Autymate turns each location's closed Oracle MICROS Simphony day into one run. Your team sees every location in one list: what posted, what is held and why, and any location that sent nothing, which is flagged and posts once its data arrives. Held items wait for your decision while the rest of the day posts. Every run keeps its mapping version and a log of each step, and Autymate's team monitors the runs.

Oracle MICROS Simphony Integration FAQs
Yes, you can integrate Oracle MICROS Simphony with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop using Autymate. We found no connector Oracle builds for QuickBooks, checked November 2026; Oracle's Simphony API page names a third-party partner for accounting. Autymate builds the connection around how each location provides its closed day. Xero, Sage Intacct and NetSuite work the same way.
Not quite. MICROS is the older company and brand, and Simphony is the POS product Oracle sells today, sometimes misspelled Symphony. Oracle's MICROS page now titles itself Simphony POS Systems, and its documents use both names; we found no statement of a rename. Older MICROS systems such as RES 3700 are separate products, so ask which one each location actually runs before planning an integration.
Oracle announced on July 1, 2026 that on or after July 1, 2027, RTA and .Connect Admin will be removed. RTA is the transfer agent connecting RES 3700 to Reporting and Analytics, so Oracle says reports, dashboards and exports relying on that data will no longer receive new data. Oracle says Simphony customers aren't affected and directs RES 3700 customers to their representative. Anything your close reads from there needs another source.
For US tax, usually not a tip. The IRS's Rev. Rul. 2012-18 treats an 18% charge added to large parties as a service charge, and any part paid to employees as wages. Simphony lets you configure a service charge as a charged tip anyway, which changes where it reports. Some groups post it to a payable cleared through payroll; others book income and a matching wage. Your accountant decides.
As liabilities when sold, reduced when used. Oracle's Non-Revenue totals record money taken without posting to sales, naming banquet deposits and gift card sales as examples. The reverse shows up in tenders: Simphony's tender media include gift card and deposit subtypes, so a redemption or an applied deposit reads as a payment rather than new cash. Map both sides, or the liability only grows.
On Oracle's Daily Operations report, yes. It defines Over/Short as Deposits minus Cash Due and says that requires Cash Management, with Deposits sourced from it. A location without it still shows Cash Due, the calculated figure, but has no count to compare. The Business Intelligence API needs a separate Cash Management permission on the account too. Those locations can supply the count another way, which we agree at Connect.
Yes, it can. Oracle's reconciliation guide has integrators recheck 1 to 14 earlier business dates against control totals, because of offline workstations posting late, checks reopened on a later date, and checks open across several days. That guide gives no point at which a day is final. Autymate can be set up to recheck those dates and hold a changed day for your decision. A file sent once won't show later changes.
It follows the business date, not the calendar. In Oracle's 19.4 guide, a Start of Day run before noon closes the previous calendar day: run at 3:05 a.m. on the 17th, it closes the 16th. Since 19.3.3.4 an option can set the date differently when Start of Day runs between noon and midnight. Check your setting, because that cut-off decides which day and which month a late check belongs to.
Ask your Oracle representative. The Oracle pages we read don't say whether the Business Intelligence API is licensed separately, checked November 2026, so confirm what your subscription includes before setup. Oracle's own requirement is Simphony 19.2 or later with Reporting and Analytics 20.1 or later, and someone with the Manage API Accounts privilege creates the account.
Oracle treats Room Charges as a tender type, so in a restaurant's day it reads like a payment and can carry a charged tip, while the guest pays at checkout. That points to a clearing account rather than the bank, which your property system would then settle. Autymate can be set up to post it that way; how your property system reports its side is settled with your accountant at Connect.
Oracle does. It agreed to buy MICROS Systems in June 2014. Oracle's site markets Simphony today for restaurants, hotels, stadiums and retail, and says it serves cloud-based and on-premise customers across more than 180 countries, which is Oracle's own description. For your books, the owner matters less than which product each location runs, since that decides what data is available and how.
Both come out of scoping, and what moves them is how many locations you run, what each one runs, how many companies own them and where the books live. Weigh that against the manual close: someone reading each location's report every day, splitting its service charges and tying its deposit, then finding at month end what didn't agree. One closed day is enough to start.
Sources and Method
Facts about Simphony on this page come from Oracle's documentation and site, a NetSuite announcement, an IRS ruling and Restaurant365's documentation, checked on November 2, 2026. Oracle's guides are versioned: report definitions follow the Reports Reference, API detail follows the 20.1 Business Intelligence guide, and Start of Day follows the 19.4 configuration guide, so confirm details for your release during setup. The worked example uses sample figures.
